Wind House
A proposal for a home in the Karoo.

Named "Wind House", the structure is marked by a monolithic wind tower.

This tower signifies the entrance and also anchors the building in the landscape.

Functionally, the wind tower cools the house by capturing the evening breeze and funneling it down to subterranean water tanks, where the play of the wind over the surface of the water drops the air temperature, before it filters through low-level grilles to the interior of the house.
